Métiers d'art 2024 collection from Chanel

Tweed is of pivotal importance in this collection. While designing the collection, I thought a lot about Gabrielle Chanel, but I didn't want to recreate Coco's look, when she wore the Duke of Westminster's jackets. She was inspired by Coco, who added color to her tweed outfits. “I gave it a vibrant pop vibe.”

Manchester is the foundation of a musical culture that changed the face of the world. Today it is a meeting point for all those associated with it. Virginie Viard explains: “I consider Manchester a city of music, it encourages creativity.

The parade takes place in Thomas Street, North Manchester, at dusk, hence the importance of paying attention to the colours. The idea revolves around feelings. Suits, bags and pearl chains coordinate together in a range of shimmering colours. Salmon pink, pumpkin, apple green, mustard, sky blue, red and copper illuminate a feminine and unique horizon. Instead of a rock look, the artistic director focuses on narrating an emotional poem with a touch of the sixties.

Using the utmost simplicity and absolute precision, Métiers d'art collection for 2023/2024 wanted to be faithful to the codes of the house. Plus all the icons that make it so modern; Chains under jackets, contrasting inner fabrics, and multiple panels with pronounced topstitching that allow great freedom of movement are a tribute to Gabrielle Chanel's tailoring art. Even the upper part of the skirts is made of the same fabric as the inside of the jackets and coats, adding that uniformity that is noticeable upon sight.

When thinking of Great Britain, we see wrap skirts, short skirts with wide pleats, Bermuda shorts, shirts, and coat-style dresses, all made of tweed, and knitwear of Shetland wool and cashmere. Slim cuts also dominated, and the skirt was worn in a waist style slightly lowered at the hips.

Draping, feathers and embroidery complement the jeweled hats and buttons designed by the Métiers d'art ateliers located at le19M and enhance the appeal of this collection. Teapots, vinyl records and cute flowers add fun touches to the set.

The collection is characterized by its bold simplicity, which is reflected in the black Mary Jane shoes. Jeans, leather and knitwear, including sleepwear and strapless dresses, complete the collection. The collection's pieces reflect areas as diverse as football, the Manchester music scene or the English countryside.

The Métiers d'art collection for 2023/2024 has a lively character and a musical touch. It expresses the youthful love story between CHANEL and Great Britain, an adventure that lasted more than a century.
